Local Economic Development Office was officially established by the Decision of the President of the Municipality in January 2008, and in the 2009 was reformed in the Department for local economic development, as part of the City administration of the City of Smederevo.

Foundation of Department for Local Economic development is as part of the Municipal Economic Growth Activity (MEGA), which is founded by the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (US AID) and is implemented by The Urban Institute (UI). The program started in February 2007. by signing of the "Memorandum of Understanding”.

The purpose of this program is to develop the capacity of local government and local business groups for faster economic development and job creation, provision of support in introducing new concepts and skills, creating a positive business climate that will enable faster development of the private sector.

7. Preparing and supervising projects of local and regional importance

Our mission

The mission of the Department of LED is to be responsible for attracting new investment to the city of Smederevo, for promoting and expansion of existing industry, for supporting the development of entrepreneurship and for creating new jobs and improvement of existing business opportunities for all citizens in Smederevo.
