Within the project "Exchange for Development" to implement the Center for the orientation of the society (COD) and the Swedish organizations of persons with disabilities (SHIA), today visited Smederevo Rita Lina, the ombudsman for the city of Stockholm to disability issues.
The cooperation of local government and social-humanitarian organization with a guest talked Deputy Mayor, Dr. Jasna Avramovic and Deputy Mayor for local government Bojan Teofilović. They pointed out that Smederevo actively participate in improving the living conditions of persons with disabilities. Among the many activities are set up ramps for the disabled, sound lights on main intersections in the city, the implementation rate for sign language in public enterprises and the City Administration and many others. The intention is to promote and protect the rights of persons with disabilities, to reduce their marginalization in society, to equal part in the life and work of the local community, stressed the Ombudsman Stockholm, Rita Lina.
Dr. Vesna Jeremic Dragojevic, the City Council for the Social Welfare expressed satisfaction with the visit of the Swedish Ombudsman Smederevo, Smederevo because the opportunity to confirm that tries to reach the European level, when it comes to quality services that local government provides people with disabilities. Smederevo is among the first cities in Serbia, which has produced an Action Plan for people with disabilities. Two-Year Plan in the assembly procedure, said Dr. Jeremic Dragojevic. Also among the numerous activities of said engagement of personal assistants, providing free transportation, realization of assistance at home, work day stay MNRO - Sun and others. She pointed out that this year the planned activities will be allocated 20 million dinars and said to always be better, and that city in the coming period will continue to work on increasing the quantity of services, as would be included as many people with disabilities.
